5-star rated 1850's home situated in the "Old City Historic District" on the mid-to west-side of the downtown Charleston peninsula. Less than a 10-minute walk to the center of the famous King St. Walking distance to the College Of Charleston, MUSC/Roper Hospital, Hampton Park & countless shops, restaurants, cafes & night life. 20 mins or less drive to 3 beaches (Folly beach, Sullivan’s Island, & Isle of Palms). 10 mins to famous old Mt Pleasant/Shem Creek! Read our reviews!! NO additional fees!.
Our downtown home is ideal if you need private accommodations for a wedding, a family gathering, working remotely, attending a nearby school, etc.. The home was built in 1852 and still has much of its original charm and quirks you'd expect from a 150 year old home which has been modified over the years including some "modern" amenities. Our home has three bedrooms that are identical in size, two full bathrooms (one with a 4' tub and the other with a shower stall) , a well stocked full kitchen, a living area, and dining area. Every bedroom has a dresser, shelf, closet, bedside table and bed. Two of the bedrooms have desks for working (one is a motorized sit-stand desk). One of the bedrooms has office supplies such as a printer, tape, hole punch, scissors, etc.. Note that we do NOT have TVs in the bedrooms, but if this is a deal breaker let us know and we'll see if we can accommodate your specific needs. There is one HDTV/Smart TV in the living room which guests use to access streaming services, but it also has an over the air antennae which provides access to all the major broadcast stations.
Some details about our home that guest tend to ask about: This home is on the first floor of a "Charleston Single" duplex and there are 3 steps to enter in from street-level. Once inside the home there are no stairs, but being an 1850's home with various renovations over the years there are a couple floor height "transitions" that are equal to or less than a standard step, so please ensure you are physically able to maneuver around the home with these transitions.
Please note that we are constantly improving our home and the amenities based on feedback from our guests, so the specific details captured in our photos may have changed before we've had a chance to update the photos. All changes will be improvements to the space and therefor you will benefit from these changes. Therefore if you have any specific questions about our space that you need to know please feel free to message us and we'll tell you all you want to know because we want to be well informed.
This is a full townhouse/apartment on the first level of a duplex home with no shared interior spaces. Access is contact-free and controlled by a keypad deadbolt on the front and rear doors for your own personal use. The lock combination is supplied the morning of check-in. The lock is very easy to use; simply enter your code and press the "Ultraloq" button. If you get stuck we can let you in remotely.
Guests are able to check-in and stay without any host interaction but we are close by if needed!
Our house is centrally located downtown in the burgeoning Cannonborough-Elliotborough neighborhood which is on the mid to western-side of the downtown peninsula. Our home is walking distance or a short ride to a lot of attractions as our previous guests have mentioned in their reviews. For example, take a right from the home go one block and you find a quaint little coffee shop (Sightsee) where you can get expertly crafted coffee/tea drinks from Joel and Alyson. Take a left and go one block and dine at Chasing Sage - a newly opened - highly rated restaurant. What a little gem! After you complete your reservation with us, you'll have access to a link to our guidebook shortly before you check-in that outlines many more of our favorite restaurants, bars, and activities within walking and driving distance.
If your planning a trip to Charleston then you probably know the Holy City is steeped in history. Guests should know that the entire downtown Charleston area is a mixture of really old, old, new, and newly rebuilt homes with gentrification being very evident but Charleston works hard to keep is old charm, history and inhabitants intact where possible. So much so, it's very difficult to tear down a house and build a new one, so you will see an old dilapidated home here and there which are waiting to be lovingly restored in amongst other lovely historic homes.
The city is very walkable or you can use an Uber/Lyft to all major Charleston attractions. Previous guests have brought bicycles and got around town that way without having to find parking. We provide one off-street parking space in the rear of the home for our guests. The parking area is enclosed by fences and a home in the rear, so it's private. The street parking in the immediate area requires a resident permit, but it seems that our guests in the last 5 months have not had any issues parking on the street or have just been lucky! We have a narrow driveway between the home next to us so I would not recommend a Chevy Suburban-sized vehicle, but for reference my I park my Toyota Tacoma pickup truck in the back and several guests have had Jeep Grand Cherokees. If you have an electric vehicle, we have a standard 110v AC outdoor outlet in the rear that you can use to charge your vehicle during your stay.
This home has been enjoyed by many guests over the years and has earned top reviews.  Our family travels a lot and understand what it takes to have a great guest experience, but we're not perfect (yet)! We are extremely responsive and will ask you for your candid feedback and suggestions for improvement so with every reservation our guest experience will be "better than the last"! Rest assured, you will be happy in our home. Our reviews are a testament to this statement.
